Montreal: At its May 26 agm under new chairman and ceo Mark Damon, the board of directors of Behaviour Communications approved the company’s recent $19.5-million restructuring plan, and approved a change of name to MDP Worldwide Entertainment/ Divertissements MDP Worldwide.
At the agm, Behaviour reported its first profitable quarter after four straight quarters of significant losses. Income before taxes and amortization for the three months ending March 31 is $911,000, resulting in net income of $343,000. Revenue for the period is $5.5 million, compared to $9.3 million last year.
Behaviour (BHV.B) says it completed the sale of its digital studio to Tube Images on March 31.
In reference to the company’s upcoming release schedule, Damon says Sundance Festival entry Love & Sex is expected to sell in most international territories, and will be released by Lions Gate Films this summer. The company has interests in The Body, a big-budget political thriller featuring Antonio Banderas and Olivia Williams, and D’Artagnan, a us$40 million remake of the Three Musketeers with Peter Hyams (End of Days) slated to direct.
After six months, Behaviour is reporting a net loss of $1.8 million, all from continuing operations, based on top-line revenues of $5.9 million, compared to revenues of $40.9 million in ’99.
The weighted average number of outstanding Behaviour shares is 59,143,708. Damon says the company is in final negotiations to establish a new operating credit facility.
