Record year for OFDC

The Ontario Film Development Corporation reports a record year in 1998, with $743.2 million injected into the economy by Ontario film and television productions. According to ofdc, the ’98 total is up $108 million or 17% from the $635.1 million in 1997.

Domestic activity for the year dropped to $396.2 million in 1998 from $414.3 million in 1997, although foreign production coming into Ontario jumped up 57.2% from 1997 to hit $347 million.

A total of 21 foreign features were shot in Ontario in 1998, producing expenditures of $176.3 million, and 51 foreign companies producing tv movies, specials and miniseries left $170.7 million behind them.
