News Brief: Images ’97

The 10th annual Images ’97, an international festival of indie film and video held in Toronto runs April 10-19.

More than 180 international films will screen at the Factory Theatre, including a New Screen Section of 90 films, chosen from among 500 submissions, and boasting 50 Canadian, 14 world and 10 Toronto premieres.

Among the Canadian premieres are San Francisco-based David Munroe’s First Love Second Planet and Bontoc Eulogy, a coproduction between pbs and California’s Marlon Fuentes. Vancouver filmmaker Ken Hegan’s William Shatner Lent Me His Hair Piece and Farley Mowat Ate My Brother will also be screened.
