montreal exporter Films Transit has the world rights to The Wonderful, Horrible Life of Leni Reifenstahl, recently named best arts documentary at the 1993 Emmy Awards gala in New York. A u.k./Belgium/Germany coproduction, the three-hour film chronicles the life of the man considered by many to be the leading filmmaker for the Nazi regime.
In other news from Films Transit, president Jan Rofekamp says three Canadian films have been released in Parisian theaters in the past two to three weeks – Robert Morin’s Requiem pour un beau sans-coeur, distributed by Action Gitanes; Ron Mann’s Twist, distributed in France by Alive; and Mark Achbar and Peter Wintonick’s Manufacturing Consent: Noam Chomsky and the Media, distributed by K-Films. The latter has played in 35 festivals, sold in 20 countries, and has worldwide theatrical receipts of over $800,000.
