BCE has appointed Mirko Bibic (pictured, right) the new COO of BCE and Bell Canada, while Wade Oosterman (pictured, left) has been appointed vice-chair of the company.
Effective immediately, Bibic will lead major corporate initiatives for Bell’s customer-facing business units including: Bell Mobility, Bell Residential, Small Business and Bell Business Markets. The exec will also continue to lead the legal and regulatory strategy for BCE and Bell’s group of companies. Rizwan Jamal, president of Bell Residential and Small Business; Blaik Kirby, president of Bell Mobility; and Tom Little, president of Bell Business Markets will all report to the newly appointed COO.
Bibic first joined Bell in 2004 as SVP, regulatory and was promoted to SVP, regulatory and government affairs four years later, before becoming chief legal and regulatory officer in 2012. In his most recent position as EVP of corporate development, Bibic is credited as overseeing strategic M&A transactions like Bell’s acquisition of Astral Media and Manitoba Telecom Services, as well was the company’s participation in various wireless spectrum auctions.
Meanwhile, Oosterman, who has served in executive roles at Bell over the past 12 years, will assume a senior advisory and oversight role on the company’s executive team as vice-chair.
The exec, who serves as chief brand officer, was promoted to group president for Bell Canada and BCE in 2015. He will take on the vice-chair position in addition to his duties as group president and chief brand officer. Outside of his work at Bell, Oosterman serves on TIFF’s board of directors.
Bell Media president Randy Lennox will continue to work under the leadership of Oosterman, while both new appointments will report to BCE and Bell Canada president and CEO George Cope as well as the company’s executive team.
