Following several weeks of speculation, Shaw Media today announced that the Global TV medical drama Remedy will return for a second season.

Having garnered an average of 1 million viewers per week for its inaugural run, the broadcaster has placed an order with Toronto-based Indian Grove Productions for 10 second-season episodes.

From creator Greg Spottiswood, Remedy stars Enrico Colantoni as the patriarch of a family of medical professionals. The drama follows the family’s ups and downs as they navigate the challenges of personal relationships and life in hectic life  a downtown hospital. Also starring is Dillon Casey, Sara Canning and Sarah Allen.

Commissioned by Shaw Media, the series debuted in Global’s mid-season lineup on Monday nights at 9 p.m.

The second season will go into production in Toronto and Hamilton later this year.
