Vancouver animation studio Slap Happy Cartoons is to produce for Knowledge Network’s daytime commercial-free schedule a series of animated shorts that feature the Luna, Chip and Inkie characters.

The three animal characters as Knowledge Kids brand mascots will help parents and kids navigate the daytime, commercial-free schedule from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

“We’re honoured Knowledge Kids has entrusted us with expanding their world, and in helping to provide preschoolers a safe place to learn, explore and be entertained,” said Josh Mepham, a partner at Slap Happy Cartoons with Vito Viscomi, Kathy Rocchio and Greg Sullivan, in a statement.

The indie studio has an office in Los Angeles, and is also producing Zombie Temp and separate animated digital shorts based on the Vancouver Canucks mascot fin.
