• Paperny Films has hired Erin Haskett, formerly of Infinity Features, to lead its expansion into scripted programming, and is now in charge of developing drama and comedy projects.

• Alan Van Sprang has joined the cast of The Tudors, and is in Ireland for four months of shooting as Sir Francis Bryan, a role that could put him close to series lead Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Van Sprang, represented by Mary Jane MacCallum of The Arc agency, has previously been seen in projects including the MOW Would Be Kings and in a recurring role on the TV series The Best Years.

• Decode Enterprises has sold its series Franny’s Feet to PBS Kids Sprout. The TV and webcaster will air episodes of the animated series – about a child’s adventures in her magical shoes – starting July 4. The run will start with a special Friday night slot before the show becomes a fixture on the channel’s weekend morning block.

The CRTC suggests fixing the Canadian Television Fund by splitting it in half, an idea that has already cut the industry itself in two. On the other hand, the Gatineau gatekeepers are all for keeping the 10/10 CAVCO requirement and want to make special allowances for VisionTV, TV5 and APTN. And so we ask:
