+ Maple Pictures has come on board Eli Craig’s offbeat comedy Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, picking up Canadian distribution rights at Sundance, where it bowed in the Midnight program. The deal was negotiated by Maple’s SVP of acquisitions John Bain and Nicolas Chartier of Voltage Pictures, who are representing the filmmakers.

Jobs shuffled at NFB

The National Film Board is eliminating four positions in Winnipeg, while adding two to its overall operations in the Prairies. The changes, revealed by English-language boss Cindy Witten, are part of a reorganization aimed at broadening the board’s reach in the region.

New York eyes new tax break

Cash-strapped New York State is anteing up US$2.1 billion to get back into the film tax-credit game. Buried in the Empire State’s 2010/11 budget is US$420 million per year earmarked for film and TV production tax credits through 2014.
