The Hills are alive

The third-season premiere of American reality show The Hills is doing big things on all platforms for MTV Canada, which has also started sending its spin-off, The Hills After Show, to MTV viewers in the U.S.

The Aug. 13 episode of The Hills (10 p.m. ET/PT), which focuses on the lives and loves of a group of young L.A. women, delivered MTV Canada’s highest season-premiere audience on record since the net’s March 2006 launch. The show also broke online records: half a million video streams were ordered up at MTV.ca on the night of the premiere — about 200,000 for the premiere ep alone — along with 30,000 streams of The Hills After Show (10:30 pm ET/PT). The net is also making full eps and highlights from the show available on Bell Mobility phones.

The Hills After Show, featuring Canuck hosts Dan Levy and Jessi Cruickshank, debuted online in the U.S. to coincide with the season premiere, while Aug. 20 marked the show’s broadcast debut on MTV in the U.S.
