Bitten in its rookie season was the most-watched original series on Space, and the second season could be headed that way too.
Bell Media on Thursday reported the sophomore season premiere of Bitten on Feb. 7 attracted 401,000 viewers, according to Numeris data provided by Bell Media.
That’s ahead of the first season average weekly audience of 347,000 viewers for Bitten, up from a first-season weekly average audience for Orphan Black at 328,000 viewers and a season two weekly average of 337,000 viewers for the Tatiana Maslany-starrer, according to Numeris data.
Orphan Black‘s second season was the top-rated series on Space in the female 25-to-54 category.
Bitten, which stars Laura Vandervoort, also airs on Syfy in the U.S. Back in Canada, the series has spun off a digital companion, The Undoing, and an after-show series Innerspace: After Bite.
J.B. Sugar serves as executive producer on Bitten for No Equal Entertainment, along with John Barbisan and Patrick Banister for Hoodwink Entertainment. Tecca Crosby, John Morayniss and Margaret O’Brien are executive producers for Entertainment One.
On the conventional side, the third season finale of the CTV original drama Saving Hope pulled in a season-high overnight audience of 1.34 million viewers, according to Numeris data. The finale aired on Wednesday night in the 10 p.m., winning the timeslot and the A25-54 demo of the night. In all, 2.7 million English-language Canadians watched some or all of the final.
Production on the 18 episodes that will make up season four of Saving Hope is set to start this summer in Toronto. Saving Hope is produced by eOne and ICF Films, in association with CTV. The scripted series is executive produced by Illana Frank and David Wellington for ICF Films, John Morayniss for eOne and Lesley Harrison. Morwyn Brebner and Adam Pettle are showrunners and executive producers on the series.
