Bitten to get Space’s first after-show series

Bell Media’s Space specialty channel has greenlit a new original after-show series, Innerspace: After Bite, which will bow after Bitten‘s season two premiere on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 9 p.m.

After Bite will be hosted by Ajay Fry, Morgan Hoffman and Teddy Wilson, who are also co-hosts of Space’s daily flagship entertainment show Innerspace. While Space has previously featured one-off pre- and after-show specials for series like Doctor Who, this is the first after-show series the channel has greenlit.

During Bitten‘s first-season run, there was consistent chatter on social media following the broadcast of each episode, said Tracey Pearce, SVP specialty and pay, Bell Media. The strong social media engagement from fans made an after-show the next natural step to expand the Bitten brand, Pearce said.

“We have the opportunity here to interact with that captive audience, beyond just live tweeting, further strengthening our relationship with our viewers,” Pearce said.

The show also allows the channel to point viewers to Bitten‘s new digital companion The Undoing, Pearce said, which will launch on Feb. 2 on Space.ca. The digital series focuses on the backstory of a new character for season two, and will be updated with new content each time a new episode of Bitten is aired. The project is a Bell Fund initiative, and was supported by No Equal Entertainment, Entertainment One and Hoodwink Entertainment, all of which also produce Bitten.

On Space, Bitten‘s first season had an average weekly audience of 347,000 viewers, according to Numeris data provided by Bell Media. The series also airs on the U.S. net Syfy, where season one averaged 1.1 million total viewers, based on Live +7 data.

J.B. Sugar serves as executive producer on Bitten for No Equal Entertainment, along with John Barbisan and Patrick Banister for Hoodwink Entertainment. Tecca Crosby, John Morayniss and Margaret O’Brien are executive producers for Entertainment One.
