Cameras roll on two new Shaw specialty series

Production has started on two new series for Shaw Media specialty channels, including a four-part docu-series that is part of a larger multi-platform project for Food Network Canada.

Cameras are rolling on Food Network Canada’s Great Canadian Cookbook, hosted by celebrity chef Lynn Crawford and Carnival Eat‘s Noah Cappe. The series will follow Crawford and Cappe as they travel across Canada to meet and eat with Canadian cooks and foodies. The television series is produced by Toronto-based Alibi Entertainment for Shaw Media and Food Network Canada.

The series will include an online companion, to be released later this year, which will include a collection of food content such as recipes, celebrity videos and how-tos. The platform will feature both curated and user-generated content. The digital component of Food Network Canada’s Great Canadian Cookbook will be produced by Toronto-based Digital Howard, in collaboration with Alibi, Shaw Media and Food Network Canada.

Production has also started on HGTV Canada’s Open House Overhaul. The 14 x 30 minute series is produced by RTR Media and will be distributed by Distribution360. Open House Overhaul is the first RTR Media property Distribution360 will represent following a recently announced first-look agreement between the two companies.

Open House Overhaul will be hosted by Samantha Pynn, who is a columnist for the National Post and the contributing design editor for Chatelaine. The home reno/real estate show will see Pynn and her team overhaul houses to help them sell quickly and for top dollar.

The series is shooting in Toronto, and is produced by RTR Media in association with Shaw Media, HGTV and with the assistance of the Canadian film or video tax credit and the Ontario film and television tax credit program.
