Schitt’s Creek premieres to 1.4M viewers

The ratings for Schitt’s were anything but, according to preliminary Numeris data provided by the CBC.

The premiere episode of Schitt’s Creek, an edgy single-camera comedy created by Eugene and Daniel Levy, pulled in an audience of 1.359 million (2+) on Tuesday at 9 p.m.

The first two episodes Schitt’s Creek aired back-to-back on Tuesday night, with the 9:30 p.m. episode bringing in 1.366 million (2+) and 475,000 viewers in the 25 to 54 demo.

The second episode of Schitt’s Creek was the most highly rated comedy and half-hour series of the night, according to the CBC.

The comedy is produced by Not A Real Company Productions. Eugene Levy, Daniel Levy, Andrew Barnsley, Fred Levy and Ben Feigin serve as executive producers on the series. On Monday, CBC annouced it has greenlit a second season of Schitt’s Creek ahead of its premiere.

Schitt’s Creek is distributed by ITV Studios Global Entertainment, and will bow on the POP network in the U.S. next month.

The ratings win for Schitt’s follow last week’s bow for The Book of Negroes on CBC, which earned 1.7 million viewers for the miniseries premiere.

Ratings update (Feb. 6): Total ratings data (live +7) shows Schitt’s Creek‘s premiere episode earned a 2+ average audience of 1.581 million.
