• Entertainment One has named Rainer Grupe as VP of filmed entertainment. Grupe will work on the Toronto distributor’s international expansion plans and will oversee overseas content strategies for territories including the U.S, the U.K., and Benelux.
• Yves Ma (Julia Kwan’s Eve & The Fire Horse) is now a producer at the National Film Board’s Pacific and Yukon Centre.
• Canwest has shuffled its sales execs following the takeover of Alliance Atlantis. The lineup consists of SVPs Catherine Bridgman and Kathy Gardner, with VPs Jennifer Holgate, Brad Kubota, Lori Legault and Greg McLelland. All will report directly to EVP of sales Errol Da-Ré.
• Whizbang Films has added Indira Guha as VP of legal and business affairs. The company scooped Guha from Telefilm Canada, where she had been a senior analyst.
• Patrick Michaud is CFO and Paul Laberge is now COO following changes at the top of The Fight Network. Coming over from The Score and Alliance Atlantis, respectively, the pair complete a management reorganization that began in September.
• Film effects veteran Kenneth Nakada has joined Frantic Films VFX to help build its digital mattes and concepts division. Nakada joins after more than two years with Momentum/LookFX, where he worked on Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and the series Pushing Daisies.
• Marco Mezzaluna now leads the Rogers Media team for advertising sales in Quebec and the Maritimes territory.
• Allen Braude and Elizabeth Muskala are taking over at Sprockets, where the festival insiders are now named co-directors of learning at its parent organization, the Toronto International Film Festival Group. The appointments put Braude and Muskala in charge of the group’s youth and adult learning programs, and atop its children’s film festival, replacing Jane Schoettle, who stepped down last year.
• Ross Video has expanded its reach in Mexico by appointing Santiago Sanchez regional sales manager. He will be responsible for sales initiatives and developing and maintaining all business relationships in the region.
