Airborne wins in L.A.

A quirky Canadian made-for-mobile cooking show has been honored at the first annual Academy of Wireless Arts, Video and Entertainment awards in L.A.

Produced by Montreal-based Airborne Entertainment, the 24-episode Bitchin’ Kitchen was created by filmmaker Joshua Dorsey and Nadia Giosia, who is also the host.

‘This is really exciting, because this is the next generation of entertainment,’ Dorsey told Playback Daily in a telephone interview from Los Angeles. ‘The problem with mobile phone shows is that, in Canada anyway, there’s never been a face associated with the content. This award could change this.’

The face of Bitchin’ Kitchen, which debuted two months ago on Telus and is viewed on wireless mobile across North America, is 27-year-old Giosia, who executes her culinary vision in episodes such as ‘Rehab Ravioli,’ ‘One-Night-Stand Breakfast,’ ‘Single-Life Salmon’ and ‘Broke-Ass Aglio-Olio’.

MTV Networks picked up a WAVE award for content creator of the year, and Justin Timberlake was named mobile music artist of the year.
