Noah Segal leaving eOne to launch Toy Boat production venture

Noah Segal, co-president of eOne Films Canada, is leaving the company at the end of August to launch Toy Boat Pictures, a new film production venture.

Segal was tapped in February to oversee eOne Films Canada, alongside co-president Bryan Gliserman, following eOne’s acquisition of Alliance Films in January 2013. He had previously held the role of EVP at Alliance Films. Prior to working at Alliance, he was also EVP, worldwide marketing at Lionsgate, and had held various roles, including VP and GM, English Canada, at Malofilm Distribution.

“This announcement is bittersweet. While I’m very excited to launch Toy Boat, I’m going to miss the incredibly gifted and hardworking team at eOne,” Segal said in a statement. “The creative community in Canada is vibrant and it’s an opportune time to return to film production, which has always been a passion of mine,” he added.

The departure follows the exits of several former Alliance execs after eOne’s takeover was completed.

That includes former Alliance films EVP Laurie May announcing her departure in April to pursue other opportunities, and the earlier exits of Victor Loewy, Charles Layton and Robert Walak.

Segal’s departure is effective Aug. 30, 2013. Gliserman will continue to oversee eOne’s film business, reporting to Reckziegel.
