Teen horror goes to Seville

Seville Pictures has picked up the Canadian and U.K. distribution rights to Quebec director Daniel Roby’s Piecemeal, a teen horror pic now being prepped for a fall 2009 shoot by Montreal-based Zone Films and TCB Film.

Montreal-based Seville released Roby’s 2004 critical hit Le peau blanche (White Skin), a Québécois vampire pic that earned the best first feature award at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Roby, who started out as a director of photography on shorts and the Quebec feature Hochelaga, also earned the 2004 Claude Jutra Award at the Genies as best Canadian debut feature director for his work on Le peau blanche.

Piecemeal, penned by American Jeff Welch, portrays a young man having difficulty bottling his rage as he endures nightmares about brutal abuse. Roby is repped stateside by ICM.
