Maps to the Stars begins production

Principal photography is underway on David Cronenberg’s latest feature film, Maps to the Stars, written by Bruce Wagner.

The 30-day shoot will run through August in Toronto and L.A.

Maps to the Stars, co-financed by eOne and Prospero Pictures, explores the culture of celebrity obsession. The film stars Julianne Moore, Mia Wasikowska, Robert Pattinson, John Cusack, Olivia Williams and Sarah Gadon.

EOne racked up a series of pre-sales for the film in Cannes, where the project was launched, including in Benelux, Poland, Scandanavia, Iceland, Switzerland and Portugal.

Maps to the Stars is produced by Prospero’s Martin Katz, SBS Productions’ Saïd Ben Saïd and Michel Merkt. Renee Tab of Sentient Entertainment and eOne’s Benedict Carver are exec producers.

Integral Films’ Alfred Hürmer is co-producing, with Walter Gasparovic as associate producer and Joseph Boccia as line producer.

Maps to the Stars received funding support from Telefilm Canada, the OMDC and the Harold Greenberg Fund.

eOne is handling worldwide sales and distribution for Maps to the Stars, including direct distribution in the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Australia/New Zealand.
