The Comedy Network is launching a user-generated video site, geared to the 18-49 demo, that calls on Canadians to post videos, and for armchair critics and trend-spotting bloggers to rant or rave about the homegrown talent.
To kick-start the launch of Upload Yours (uly.thecomedynetwork.ca), Comedy is presenting ‘Worst Gig Ever,’ a series of exclusive shorts in which nine Canadian comedic talents — including pundits Debra DiGiovanni, Laurie Elliott and Darrin Rose from MuchMusic’s Video on Trial — recount tales of their most harrowing shows.
‘Canadians have always stood out as the global class clowns,’ said channel boss Ed Robinson in a release. ‘It’s only fitting that The Comedy Network… provide a playground for them to school the rest of the world about Canadian comedy.
Comedy is currently available to over five million households across the country.
