Pubcaster RTS Switzerland has acquired the first season of About Antoine as well as the companion documentary Amazing Antoine from Just For Entertainment (JFE) Distribution.
Based on a true story, About Antoine (pictured) follows a woman who becomes a stepmom to a child with multiple disabilities. It first premiered on Club Illico in January 2023.
The 10 x 22-minute dramedy series was created by Cathleen Rouleau and produced by Just For Entertainment. The series stars Rouleau, Claude Legault and Antoine Parent-Bédard.
Upon its original release, the series won several awards, including the MIPCOM Diversify TV Award for Representation of Disability in a Scripted Series. In March 2024, the series was acquired by France Televisions.
The 42-minute doc follows Parent-Bédard in his daily life with his family, at school and as he stars in the series based on his family.
JFE Distribution’s rebrand from its previous name of Amuz Distribution was announced earlier this month. It follows its parent company Quebec City-based ComediHa!’s June 2024 acquisition of the Just For Laughs Group assets and ComediHa!’s October 2024 rebrand into Just For Entertainment Group.
According to a previous release, the distribution unit will now represent more series from its holding company.
“This series epitomizes the type of premium programming we represent,” said Alex Avon, JFE’s chief marketing officer, in a statement.
