Entertainment One has partnered with U.K. writer-producer Bryan Elsley to launch a companion e-book to Elsley’s drama series Dates.
Dates is a nine-part, half-hour drama about the complexities of modern relationships, with each episode taking viewers on a different date.
“We want our audience to enjoy the television series and then deepen their experience with an absorbing set of short stories which bring them ever closer to the characters. We hope there is much here for the reader to relate to. The stories are funny, sad, witty and erotic. In fact, they are rather like going on a date: you’re not sure what’s on offer, but it’s always going to be crazily interesting,” said Elsley in a statement.
Elsley, also the creator of Skins, selected an assortment of screenwriters, journalists and novelists to author the e-book ‘s 10 stories. The stories will give a deeper look into the Dates characters’ lives, sometimes with a backstory, and sometimes picking up where the character left off on-screen.
Dates, which stars an ensemble cast including Ben Chaplin, Sheridan Smith and Andrew Scott, airs on Channel 4 in the U.K. and is produced by Balloon Entertainment. EOne handles worldwide distribution to the series.
