Dean Cain is going from Superman to Santa-supporting sheriff.

Vancouver-based Odyssey Media said Tuesday that the New Adventures of Superman actor will star in its upcoming production, Defending Santa.

The production, slated to begin this month, is the latest in a multi-picture deal between Odyssey and California-based The Cartel.

Cain will play a small-town cop who, along with a single mother, goes against an overzealous district attorney intent on locking away a man claiming to be Santa Claus as Christmas approaches.

Defending Santa is written by George Erschbamer and directed by Brian Skiba. Odyssey’s Kirk Shaw and Devi Singh are producing, in association with Cartel’s Stan Spry and Eric Woods, and Lighthouse Pictures’ Jamie Thompson.
