Lighthouse Pictures ups Trevor McWhinney to SVP of content

McWhinney has produced films such as Three Wise Men and a Baby and The Show.

Vancouver-based production company Lighthouse Pictures has promoted Trevor McWhinney to SVP of content as part of its global expansion strategy.

In his new role, McWhinney will oversee Lighthouse’s strategy for developing and producing original TV films and work with writers, clients and producers on projects from development to delivery. He will also focus on discovering and mentoring new creative talent and act as a consultant on production, union and business affairs, according to a release.

McWhinney, who has been with Lighthouse Pictures since its inception in 2012, previously held the role of VP of business development and production. McWhinney has produced several series and films for the company including Three Wise Men and a Baby and the Giancarlo Esposito-directed The Show. Prior to joining Lighthouse, McWhinney created and produced the reality series Gotta Grudge?

McWhinney’s promotion comes after Vancouver-based Martini Film Studios acquired a majority stake in Lighthouse Pictures in April. Following that, former VP of production Jameson Parker assumed the role of CEO from Lighthouse co-founder Jamie Goehring.

“Having worked with its talented team for so many years, I have seen how the company has evolved and built a strong reputation for producing high quality productions both across Canada and internationally,” said McWhinney in a statement.
