Veteran broadcaster Bob Babinski has been tapped as executive producer and local content manager for Rogers Media’s new local Montreal station.
“Bob’s connection to Montreal, coupled with his wide-ranging expertise as a producer and broadcaster, will strengthen our ability to develop and deliver engaging local programming to this community,” said Rogers Media broadcast president Scott Moore in a statement.
Babinski will oversee City Montreal’s local weekday morning show, Breakfast Television, and Connected Montreal, a new, 30-minute weekly sports show.
Montreal native Babinski is a former sportscaster for CBC Television and CBC Radio in Montreal. He also worked several years as a freelance trainer for reporters and hosts.
City Montreal’s Breakfast Television morning show, slated to launch in summer 2013, will be modeled on local City morning shows in Toronto, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Calgary and Edmonton.
Connected Montreal will be a regional extension of Sportsnet’s national Connected brand, and cover professional, amateur, university and junior league sports in the Greater Montreal area.
City Montreal , which Rogers said will produce 15.5 hours of original local programming and bring at least 20 production jobs to the Montreal market, is slated to launch Feb. 4.
