Sean Garrity’s My Awkward Sexual Adventure earned the top audience award at the Whistler Film Festival, which wrapped on Sunday.

The film was also a People’s Choice winner for best narrative film, tying with Kim Nguyen’s Rebelle, at the Calgary International Film Festival in September.

Organizers on Wednesday said Garrity’s latest film, one of eight contenders in the Borsos competition for best Canadian film, beat out runner up Hit ‘N Strum, by Kirk Caouette.

The Whistler audience prize goes to the highest-rated film voted on by ordinary theatre-goers.

In all, 78 films – 44 features and 34 shorts – from 18 countries screened at the 12th edition of the Whistler Film Festival, which ran from Nov. 28 to Dec. 2.
