Festival du Nouveau Cinema to open with Simon Galiero film

Montreal’s Festival du nouveau cinéma is to open next month with the world premiere of La mise à l’aveugle (Small Blind), by Quebec director Simon Galiero.

And French actress/director Noémie Lvovsky will close the 41st edition of the festival with Camille redouble (Camille Rewinds).

Galiero’s second feature will debut on Oct. 10, with the director and cast, including Micheline Bernard, Louis Sincenne, Pierre-Luc Brillant, Christine Beaulieu and Julien Poulin (Camion) attending.

Galiero earned the opening night slot in Montreal after in 2009 grabbing the Focus Grand Prize for best Canadian feature film for Nuages sur la ville.

La mise à l’aveugle will open on commercial release in Quebec in November 2012.

The festival’s closing film is Lvovsky’s fifth film, and has already screened in Cannes and Locarno.

The comedy stars Lvovsky, Samir Guesmi, Jean-Pierre Léaud, Yolande Moreau and Denis Podalydès (Adieu Berthe).

The 41st Festival du nouveau cinéma is to run from Oct. 10 to 21, 2012 in Montreal.
