He’s not quitting his day job, but David Cronenberg is taking on another cameo role in a fantasy project.
The veteran Canadian director has a guest starring role in the time travel action thriller Rewind for Syfy, now shooting a pilot in Toronto.
Cronenberg is playing a brilliant scientist and Nobel Prize winner who comes unhinged after the earlier death of his wife, and who prepares a dangerous plot to alter the course of history.
The Rewind pilot for NBC Universal also stars Shane McRae as an ex-Special Forces in the Department of Homeland Security, and Keisha Castle-Hughes, Jennifer Ferrin, Robbie Jones and Keon Mohajeri.
Cronenberg’s on-screen credits in his own and other director’s films includes a cameo in Barney’s Version, another in Highway 61 and playing a cold-blooded psychiatrist in the 1990 horror pic Nightbreed.
The Rewind pilot, directed by Jack Bender from a script by Justin Marks, is shooting at the Cinespace studio on Kipling Avenue in west Toronto.
