Patricia Lovett-Reid gets second act on CTV News Channel

Patricia Lovett-Reid is no stranger to TV after countless appearances on CTV and the Business News Network as a top TD Bank Financial Group exec and TV personal finance guru.

Still, her second act in life, launching The Pattie Lovett-Reid Show on the CTV News Channel from Thursday night, has her in a fit of pre-opening curtain jitters.

“I’m excited and extremely nervous. The transition was bigger than I thought,” Lovett-Reid told Playback Tuesday, ahead of the debut of her half-hour personal finance call-in show, to air Thursdays.

“I was comfortable in the job I was doing. Now you’re all of a sudden proving yourself all over again,” she added.

What Lovett-Reid will also be doing weekly on the CTV News Channel is proving to Canadians they need to do more than follow the latest stock market fluctuations and instead improve their personal balance sheet.

“I don’t think we can control the markets, but we can control how we react to the markets. We can get ourselves out of debt. We can build a diversified portfolio. And we can continue training and networking in our job lives,” she insisted.

Segments in The Pattie Lovett-Reid Show will include “Couples and Money,” “Getting You Out of Debt” and “Biggest Bang for Your Buck.”

There’s a prevailing theme here, mixing the possibilities of a better financial future for some callers with the reality of others being loaded down with debt, and fearing for their future.

That will have Lovett-Reid confirming some callers are on the right track, while giving pointers to others looking to get back on track.

“Even people who are doing things right look for validation. I didn’t think that I would be starting a new career,” she said, getting back to her second act on the CTV News Channel.
