The CW Network has acquired CTV original drama Sight Unseen for U.S. broadcast as the network continues to build up its Cancon catalogue.
Filming is currently underway in Vancouver on the 10 x 60-minute crime drama, which is produced by Blink49 Studios and Front Street Pictures in association with Sisters Troubetzkoy Productions, and is created by Karen Troubetzkoy (Killjoys) and Nikolijne Troubetzkoy (Transplant), who also serve as co-showrunners and executive producers.
The series stars newcomer Dolly Lewis as a former homicide detective who has been diagnosed as legally blind, and Agam Darshi (Donkeyhead) as the remote seeing-eye guide who helps her in an attempt to investigate her unsolved cases. It will debut on CTV and the CW Network in 2024.
Additional cast members include Jarod Joseph (The 100), Daniel Gillies (Virgin River), Alice Christina-Corrigan (Doctors) and Tony Giroux (Motherland: Fort Salem). Sight-impaired consultants have also provided guidance on production, according to a news release.
Executive producers on Sight Unseen include Blink49’s John Morayniss, Carolyn Newman and Virginia Rankin, Front Street Pictures’ Charles Cooper, director John Fawcett and writer Derek Schreyer. Ryan Knighton is co-executive producer.
Blink49 Studios brokered the deal with the CW Network, and also handled the network’s acquisition of another series currently in production, CBC crime procedural Wild Cards. The Toronto and L.A.-based studio holds U.S. and Canadian rights to Sight Unseen and Wild Cards, while Fifth Season handles distribution outside of North America.
