Syfy greenlights Being Human for season three

Muse Entertainment’s Being Human has been greenlit by U.S. network Syfy for a third season, the network confirmed today.

The series is currently in its second season on Syfy in the U.S. and on Space in Canada, where it premiered on both channels on Jan. 16. Bell Media has also confirmed the third season will air on Space as well.

Shot entirely in Montreal, the series is a spinoff of the successful U.K. version of the show, which airs on BBC Three. It follows the lives of seemingly human roommates who are actually supernatural beings.

According to Syfy, viewership for the second season has increased by 27% with 18- to-49-year-olds, 35% with 25- to-54-year-olds and 15% with total viewers.

The one-hour drama is a hit with female viewers, Syfy’s president of original content, Mark Stern, said in a statement released today, noting that the demo comprises 52% of its audience on Syfy.

“With the success of season two, ‘Being Human’ has become a premiere destination for Syfy viewers,” said Stern. “[Executive producers] Jeremy Carver and Anna Fricke have taken this series to new heights this year and we’re excited to see where the third season will go.”

Muse’s Michael Prupas executive-produces along with writer/showrunners Carver and Fricke. The series is produced in association with Zodiak USA.
