Canada’s Indie Game: The Movie wins Sundance award

Winnipeg filmmakers James Swirsky and Lisanne Pajot on Sunday picked up the World Cinema Documentary editing award at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival for their film, Indie Game: The Movie.

The only prize snagged by Canadians at Sundance followed Swirsky and Pajot earlier in the festival selling the U.S. remake rights to their documentary as part of a development deal with Hollywood producer Scott Rudin and HBO.

Indie Game: The Movie portrays independent video game development, with producer teams spending years writing code for video games.

The Canadian documentary debuted in competition at Sundance.

Swirsky and Pajot produced, directed, edited, and wrote the film.
