Tim Spelliscy lands lifetime achievement award

Global Edmonton’s Tim Spelliscy will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for the Prairie Region from the Association of Electronic Journalists (RTNDA).

“It’s hard to imagine a Global Edmonton without a Tim Spelliscy,” said says Troy Reeb, VP, Global News in a statement. “The Global Edmonton news department was built virtually on his shoulders.”

Spelliscy’s long career in broadcasting began in radio, where he became the “voice of the Oilers” before jumping into studio management. He now leads Global Edmonton, formerly ITV News, where he was also Edmonton’s first TV meteorologist and is an active community member.

Spelliscy will receive his award on April 9 at the RTNDA Prairie Regional Awards Banquet in Saskatoon.
