Mike Omelus has been appointed the new eastern regional director for Global News.

His new role will see him putting his broadcast media experience to good use, managing editorial and production teams at Global Maritimes, Global Montreal and Global Winnipeg’s newsrooms, as well as overseeing the teams on current affairs newsmagazine program 16:9 The Bigger Picture.

Omelus comes from CTV where he was executive producer at the Business News Network, handling on-air and online content, as well as instrumental in the channel’s rebrand from ROBtv. His resume also boasts experience at The Canadian Press where he served in several roles including top news executive at Broadcast News.

Omelus steps into his new role on February 7.
