Mellany Welsh is departing her role as VP and head of Nelvana, Corus Entertainment’s kids production arm and international distributor.
A spokesperson for Corus Entertainment told Playback Daily that Welsh will depart effective Friday (Jan. 17) to “pursue a new opportunity outside of Corus.”
Rachel Nelson, VP, original programming and head of Corus Studios will oversee Nelvana and publisher Kids Can Press.
Management of Nelvana’s day-to-day operations will be handled by Tonya Lindo, head of business operations for Nelvana and Kids Can Press, and Vanessa Esteves, Nelvana’s head of production.
“Nelvana’s primary focus is to continue its strong, core business lines of distribution and merchandising, and to deliver the outstanding shows currently in production,” said the spokesperson.
Welsh assumed leadership of Nelvana last year following a restructure of the Corus content leadership team and the retirement of former Nelvana president Pam Westman.
