The web series funding program will be back for another year, as the Independent Production Fund announces that it will continue support of the format.
“The creativity of the web series format is exciting and inspiring, but there are a few mysteries yet to solve in this experimental format” said IPF chair Charles Ohayon after the board of directors evaluated the program. “Time is needed to develop appropriate marketing, distribution and business models”.
Of the 166 projects submitted to the $2.1 million 2010 Pilot Program, 11 drama series were selected., with budgets ranging from $300 to $5,000 a minute. Funded series are available on the IPF-created dashboard Wip at www.ipf.ca/webseries.
Deadling for Requests for Proposals for the 2011 program is March 2, 2011 and funding decisions to be announced in mid-June. For more information and guidelines, head over to www.ipf.ca.
