The Independent Production Fund (IPF) has approved more than $2.5 million in production funding for 14 television series as part of the Cogeco TV Production Program.
The program provides Canadian producers with financing for the production of dramatic series and miniseries. The latest round of funding is split between eight English-language series and six French-language projects.
Six of the 2025 selections are new seasons of existing series, including the sophomore seasons of TVA’s Détective Surprenant (6 x 60 minutes; V10 Média), Crave and Noovo’s Le retour d’Anna Brodeur (Sphère Média) and CBC’s Saint-Pierre (12 x 60 minutes; Hawco Productions; pictured).
CBC’s Allegiance (10 x 60 minutes; Lark Productions) and Wild Cards (10 x 60 minutes; Blink 49 Studios, Front Street Pictures, Piller/Segan) both received funding for their third seasons while Murdoch Mysteries (22 x 60 minutes; Shaftesbury) was selected for its 19th season.
The remaining projects include Radio-Canada and APTN’s Nish (10 x 21 minutes; Kassiwi Média); ICI Tou.TV Extra’s Le gouffre lumineux (10 x 60 minutes; Productions J); CBC/Radio-Canada and TFO’s Screech Owls (Shaftesbury); and CBC/Radio-Canada and Knowledge Network’s Stevie and the Sacred Animals (Eagle Vision, Sinking Ship Entertainment).
Crave’s Coup de feu! (Duo Productions), Télé-Québec’s Truffe (Happy Camper Media) and CBC’s Theodore Tugboat (Boulevard Productions, Blue Ant Studios) and Stonechild (Sphere Media, Katawak Productions) round out the projects selected for funding.
In 2018, Cogeco redirected its BDU contributions to the IPF and established the Cogeco TV Production Program under the IPF umbrella to continue supporting TV drama series. Since then, 97 projects have received more than $17 million in production funding.
