CMF reports final CTF funding numbers

The Canada Media Fund has published the 2009/10 annual report for the final year of funding from the CTF.

In its final installment before it was overhauled, the CTF disbursed a record $327 million, which was used to produce 4,400 hours of programming, including 932 hours of new broadcast programs. The CMF says funding went to shows such as Flashpoint, The Young Romantic, Les Invincibles, and Les hauts et les bas de Sophie Paquin.

Other highlights of the report include $9.8 million for development finding; a notation that funded programs pulled in 95 Gemini and Gémeaux awards; and the observation that performance envelopes were allocated to 59 English and 20 French broadcasters, with five new broadcasters receiving envelopes in the period.

The full report is available in English and French.

“If there were a theme to this year, that theme would be dialogue” said Louis Roquet, chair of the board of directors in a statement.

“The dialogue between the various stakeholders of the corporation was strengthened through an extensive year-long consultation.”
