CBC Radio One’s The Debaters is migrating to the pubcaster’s main TV network.
The Saturday morning radio show that has stand-up comics debate topical issues – Should Winnipeg be Canada’s capital?, or Have Aliens Visited? – first debuted in September 2006.
The series’ producers, Tod Elvidge, Anna Bonkoski and Richard Side have struck a co-production agreement with CBC Television for a mid-season TV program to bow in January.
The radio version, hosted by Montreal stand-up comic Steve Patterson, has a live audience vote via applause on which comic did best offering a mixture of laughs and debating logic.
