Netflix Canada has hired Armand Leo as its new senior manager of production management.
Starting today (March 3) in his new, Toronto-based role, Leo (pictured) will work closely with Danielle Woodrow and Tara Woodbury, Netflix’s directors of content, Canada, a Netflix Canada spokesperson told Playback Daily.
He will work on productions such as the as-yet-untitled, six-episode original limited series set and filmed in Newfoundland from Toronto-born Jesse McKeown, announced in late February.
Leo’s career spans over 25 years, producing both feature films and series. Prior to Netflix, he spent six years as an executive producer at Toronto and Cape Town-based Blue Ice Pictures, overseeing several productions including the Netflix series Spinning Out and three seasons of Ginny & Georgia, as well as Prime Video’s The Horror Of Delores Roach.
He also previously served as executive producer on Syfy’s The Vagrant Queen, CTV Sci-Fi Channel’s Astrid & Lily Save The World and three seasons of Surrealestate.
Before his time at Blue Ice, Leo also held positions at Entertainment One as SVP of global production affairs, and as a film and TV producer with credits including CTV’s Saving Hope and Global’s Rookie Blue. He has worked on productions in Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Halifax and St. John’s.
