Halifax comedy troupe Picnicface has financing from the Harold Greenberg Fund for their upcoming movie comedy Roller Town, and D Films on board as a theatrical distributor.
But film director Andrew Bush and Picnicface needs a little more financing for their movie shoot in Halifax now continuing to October 6.
So Bush and Picnicface are not stopping at a few more government and industry government handouts to fill out their budget.
They’re begging.
In online videos making the rounds of YouTube and other social media sites, members of the Picnicface pitch a host of perks for donations, including $20 getting your name on the movie’s credit roll with available titles.
So ‘key grip’ isn’t available, but ‘key shark puncher’ apparently is.
And for $1000, you will be immortalized in the credit roll for dying “heroically during the making of the movie doing a crazy stunt.”
In all, the Picnicface troupe has uploaded 62 short videos in honor of donors.
Roller Town, from Halifax producer Bad Astronaut, marks a debut theatrical feature for Picnicface after a slew of irreverent comedic short films that secured the group a cult following online.
The Canadian movie portrays three friends in the 1980s looking to stop local mobsters from transforming a roller rink into a video arcade.
Bill Niven and Jay Dahl are producing the film from a screenplay by Bush, Mark Little and Scott Vrooman.
