CBC has ordered a one-hour U.S. election special for its long-running sketch series This Hour Has 22 Minutes.
The special, titled This Hour Has 22 Minutes Has 44 Minutes: A U.S. Election Special, will air on Nov. 4, the day before Americans head to polls to decide between former U.S. president Donald Trump and Vice-President Kamala Harris.
The episode will “journey across the great American political divide to tell the story of the most consequential U.S. election of this generation, from a distinctly Canadian (and comedic) point of view,” according to a news release.
Cast members appearing in the special include Aba Amuquandoh, Stacey McGunnigle, Trent McClellan, Chris Wilson, Mark Critch, Dan Dillabough, Clare Belford and Abdullah Usman. It will feature sketches of the candidates talking about “key policy positions, their quirks and their cons.”
This Hour Has 22 Minutes is produced by Halifax-based IoM Media. Former showrunner Peter McBain is an executive producer for the special.
The 32nd season is executive produced by Mike Allison and Michael Donovan, and produced by Leslee Gill, Carl Gosine, Tracey Jardine and Dana Landry.
