Prime Video commissions Simple Plan documentary

The doc was announced by the Montreal band while on stage at the When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas.

Prime Video is prepping a documentary chronicling the career of multi-platinum-selling Canadian pop-punk band Simple Plan.

The untitled documentary, which is currently in production with Toronto- and Montreal-based prodco Sphere Media, was announced last Saturday (Oct. 19) by lead singer Pierre Bouvier live on stage in front of thousands of fans at the When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas. The documentary will launch globally on the Amazon-owned streamer in 2025.

The film is directed by Hawkesbury, Ont.-born filmmaker Didier Charrette and will chronicle the band’s formation in Montreal in the late 1990s, its rise to global stardom with hits such as “I’m Just A Kid,” “Welcome to My Life,” “I’d Do Anything,” and “Perfect,” and its continued impact as one of the most successful pop-punk bands.

The doc will also feature never-before-seen archival footage, along with new interviews with the band members and celebrated icons of the pop-punk community including Mark Hoppus (Blink 182), Avril Lavigne, Dexter Holland and Noodles (The Offspring) and Fat Mike (NoFX).

Executive producers on the project are Bruno Dubé, Renaud Chassé and Marie-Hélène Tremblay, with Samuel Sauvageau serving as producer.
