The anchor shuffle at the CBC’s news division continued Monday with Anne-Marie Mediwake (pictured) and former CityTV journalist Dwight Drummond coming forward to anchor the Toronto supper-hour TV newscast, starting October 12.
Replacing Diana Swain, the duo will co-host CBC News Toronto’s dinner hour newscast at 5:00, 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. in a bid to reflect Toronto’s diversity.
The appointments were unveiled by Jennifer McGuire, general manager and editor in chief, CBC News.
Heather Hiscox will continue anchoring the morning newscast to 9 a.m., with Suhana Meharchand to follow from 9 a.m. to noon.
And Kim Brunhuber takes over the noon to 2 p.m. slot, while Carole MacNeil remains in the afternoon chair from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
The latest shuffle follows Diana Swain in July being named senior correspondent of the CBC News investigative unit, a move that prompted a search for a new CBC News Toronto anchor.
