Indie producer Headtrip Films is adding to its scripted slate with a bank heist movie Stickup Men in development at Sienna Films.

Sienna optioned the movie screenplay from Headtrip principals Mitchell Gabourie and Aubrey Singer, which is based on the novel Jack Rabbit Parole by convicted bankrobber Stephen Reid, a former member of the notorious Stopwatch Gang.

Headtrip optioned the Reid novel from The Bukowski Agency, and is to produce a 1970s period drama about three Canadian bank robbers who crisscross North America holding up banks while posing as rock concert promoters.

Gabourie will direct the feature after Sienna Films assembles financing and packages the project.

Toronto-based Gabourie and Los Angeles-based writing partner Aubrey Singer also have a half hour comedy, Slaughterhouse Films, in development at Shaftesbury Films.

Canadian actor and comic Jason Jones, who is a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, is in talks to top-line the homegrown comedy about a young hustling B-movie producer and his crew of misfits who are always one step ahead of financial ruin.

Jone’s possible involvement has Comedy Central in the U.S. circling the workplace comedy.

Canadian comic Dave Foley appeared in a pilot for Slaughterhouse Films that got Gabourie and Singer in the door at Shaftesbury Films.

No word on a Canadian broadcaster for the comedy.
