APTN lumi acquires short-form thriller It Doesn’t Show

Production for the 6 x 10-minute series took place in Iqaluit and Toronto and wrapped earlier this month.

A PTN lumi has acquired the short-form thriller It Doesn’t Show from Szaboteur Films.

The 6 x 10-minute series wrapped two weeks of production in Toronto on July 7, following a block of shooting in Iqaluit from May 24 to 28. APTN has also acquired broadcast rights.

It Doesn’t Show is created by Bronwyn Szabo, who also serves as writer, director, executive producer and star. The series is produced by Szaboteur’s Nason Markwell with Lisa Milosavljevic and Roselynn Akulukjuk serving as associate producers.

Szabo stars as a woman who must battle a deadly creature hiding in her walls as she attempts to decolonize herself. Additional cast include Sadie Vincent-Wolfe and Jada Nulliayuk.

It Doesn’t Show is one of the five projects selected for the Jeff Barnaby Grant from imagineNATIVE and Netflix, which provided $25,000 for projects in the horror, thriller or futurism genres, in memory of the late filmmaker.

Additional financing for the series was provided by the Independent Production Fund, the Indigenous Screen Office, APTN lumi and the Tuuragaq stream of the Inuit Art Foundation’s Kajungiqsaut Grants.
