Quebecor Fund allocates $399K via production program

The Fund announced the recipients of the Film Production Assistance Program and the Export Assistance Program.

The Quebecor Fund has allocated funding for two film projects under its Film Production Assistance Program and for one business model under its Export Assistance Program (EXAP), totalling a nearly $550,000 investment.

In the 28th round of the Film Production Assistance Program, a total of $399,000 was awarded to Canadian production companies, Rakonti (Amalga Créations Médias, Les Films du Lac) and Amérique Film, and distributors Immina Films and Maison 4:3.

Receiving support is the comedy feature Menteuse (Rakonti), directed by Émile Gaudreault and written by Gaudreault, Erik K. Boulianne and Sébastien Ravary. Immina Films is the distributor.

The second feature is the comedy Deux femmes en or (Amérique Film) from director Chloé Robichaud and writer Catherine Léger. Maison 4:3 is the distributor.

The Quebecor Fund has also invested $150,000 via EXAP, which is run in partnership with the Canada Media Fund (CMF) to support export initiatives by funding the development of content adapted for non‑Québec and international markets as well as marketing efforts. In this 26th round, Quebecor Fund and the CMF are each investing $150,000, for a total of $300,000, in the business model of Happy Camper Média.

The Quebecor Fund has allocated more than $19 million to 113 projects via its Film Production Assistance Program since its launch in September 2010. Another $12.1 million has been invested via EXAP since its establishment in 2014, with an additional $4.4 million allocated by the CMF since coming on board in 2017.
