The second season of horror anthology series Creepy Bits, written and directed by David J. Fernandes, has been picked up by Hollywood Suite for broadcast and streaming.
Filming for season two has begun in and around the Hamilton, Ont. area, with production set to wrap at Curve Lake First Nation Reserve and Bobcaygeon in the Kawartha Lakes area in early June. It will premiere on Hollywood Suite this fall.
Season two will have 10 episodes — up from the seven-episode season one — and focus on humankind’s relationship to nature. “This season aims to wipe the smirk off the friendly Canadian wilderness myth and show it for what it really is: absolutely terrifying,” says Fernandes in a statement.
In addition to Fernandes, season two adds a of diverse group of writers and directors, including Ashlea Wessel, Adrian Bobb, Kelly Paoli and Sid Zanforlin.
Executive producing the series is Fernandes, Lewis Spring, LaRue Entertainment’s Matt King and Andrew Ferguson, and Hollywood Suite’s Sharon Stevens and David Kines. The production also received financial support from the Canada Media Fund and Ontario Creates.
In 2021, after he wrote and directed the season one of his short web series, which was filmed during the pandemic, Fernandes told Playback Daily, that it was funded on “pocket lint and fumes” and he’d hoped to use the three-minute per episode series as a calling card for directing and showrunning.
It worked. The series created enough buzz to land on U.S. horror streamer Bloody Disgusting TV in 2021. Hollywood Suite snapped up the rights to the first season after it launched on YouTube.
