Toronto’s Blue Ice Docs has signed to distribute director Sean Cisterna’s theatrical documentary Silver Screamers.
The feature is produced by Cisterna’s Mythic Productions and Ivonete DeSousa, and executive produced by Judy Gladstone.
The film follows a group of eight spirited senior citizens, ranging from 75 to 96, as they embark on an extraordinary adventure outside their comfort zone: making a horror film. It is an adaptation of horror writer Edo van Belkom’s short story The Rug, featured in his award-winning anthology Death Drives a Semi.
Silver Screamers is currently underway and will aim to finish principal photography in October. The film is financed through private investment and Blue Ice Docs. Additional production and broadcast partners will be announced at a later date.
“I’ve been a fan of Sean and his work for some time,” says Blue Ice Docs co-owner and CEO Robin Smith, “so when he approached me with the opportunity of being involved in the distribution of Silver Screamers, I jumped at the chance to do so knowing he would be the right voice to bring this story to audiences with the right balance of sensitivity, respect and a wink of humour.”
