Shaftesbury nabs Innovative Producer Award

Shaftesbury Films is being honored with the Lionsgate/Maple Pictures Innovative Producer Award at this year’s Banff TV festival.

Christina Jennings, chairman and CEO of Toronto-based Shaftesbury, will accept the award – recognizing the ‘entrepreneurial excellence and achievements of an independent producer within the Canadian television industry’ – at the Alberta Film Awards Lunch on June 8.

‘I’m delighted with this recognition… we look forward to continuing to produce high-impact Canadian programming that travels the world,’ says Jennings.

Jennings was named Playback’s Producer of the Year in 2007.

The exec also oversees all of the company’s feature film and television productions as producer or executive producer. Under her leadership, Shaftesbury’s numerous productions have included TV series The Listener, ReGenesis and Murdoch Mysteries, the internationally successful kids series Life with Derek, and the Emmy-nominated MOW The Robber Bride, starring Mary-Louise Parker.
